More than 1900 employees representing 75 companies competed in 13 sporting categories
International Tech Park Bangalore celebrated its annual sporting extravaganza "ITPB Sports Meet" from 17 to 28 March 2008. These 2 weeks of sporting extravaganza saw participation of over 75 companies and 1900 participants in more than 13 categories of indoor and outdoor games.
With more than 145 companies and over 20,000 employees, ITPB Sports Meet is a popular platform for the companies to compete in various sporting events and show their talent apart from their professional skills. This year saw wide variety of indoor/outdoor, health & fitness and fun games like Cricket, Football, Volley Ball, Table Tennis, Athletics, Throw ball, Carrom, Push-up, skipping challenges, lemon & spoon and three leg race.
On the success of the sports meet, Mr. LIM Sin Tiow, CEO, Ascendas India, said, "I thank all the organizations and participants for displaying unmatched team efforts and sportsman spirit and making the event a grand success. Such sporting events reinforce the community spirit of our parks and emphasize the unique lifestyle concept, synonymous with all Ascendas parks."
The sports meet culminated today with the awards ceremony. The event was a closely contested one and the company that emerged "Overall Champion" was the one that won in the maximum number of categories.
The "Overall Champions" for 2008 is Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) who won in Table Tennis, Throw ball, Health & Fitness and Fun games categories.
The "Overall Champion" trophy won by ACS is a rolling trophy with a new contender next year.
Few other participating companies include Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), General Motors (GM), Delphi, Avesthagen, Paprikas and many more.
The event was sponsored by Purvankara and Zest (Mahindra Group Company) with Red Bull, Sabol, Telibrahma, Fitness One and Royal Challenge as co-sponsors.
